The History of Standard

Standard is actually an unincorporated community located in Tuolumne County, CA. It’s just 4 miles outside of Sonora, which means it’s very easy to get to.

Standard was first a Mi-Wuk Village and it was immensely popular because of the Gold Rush. The Standard Lumber Company bought the Xavier Fassler dairy farm in 1909, as well as numerous other buildings in the area, such as a butcher shop, inn, school, and church.

In 1921, the company was sold to Pickering Lumber Company and actually closed down during the Depression. Afterward, in 1937, the mill reopened. Since then, the building’s been through several ownership transfers, with Sierra Pacific Industries as the last owner in 1995.

Today, the main office is home to the restaurant the Standard Pour.

About Standard Pour Restaurant

In 2010, the Standard Pour Restaurant joined the list of restaurants in Sonora, CA. It’s a casual restaurant, so you won’t have to worry about dressing up fancy for a meal. Inside, there is a bar, dining room, banquet room, and president’s room.

While you can sit inside, why not enjoy the beautiful Standard sights by sitting outdoors? The Standard Pour Restaurant has a patio outside where you can thoroughly appreciate nature. Don’t forget to visit the bocce court too!

The Menu

This restaurant offers a delightful menu that makes it one of the best restaurants in Sonora. You can choose from small plates, burgers, fries, salads, sandwiches, and main entrees.

They fry their dishes in organic rice oil to bring you a unique experience and taste. Also, all burgers and sandwiches come with a choice of side: shoestring fries, soup, or mixed green salad. If you want any other side (such as garlic fries), just pay extra!

If you’re thirsty, there are plenty of soft drinks available. But what you must do is try their craft beer; with 18 beers on tap! These go perfectly with a burger or sandwich on a hot day.

We utilize local and sustainable products whenever feasible including Blue Oak Farms, Table Mountain Beef, Gold Country Honey, Red Earth Farm, Kline-Cushing Organic Farm, Schnoog’s Cafe and Diestel Turkey.

We are huge artisanal California cheese geeks. Between our menu and our daily Artisanal Cheese Plate, some of our favorites include; Bellwether Farms Pecorino, Fiscalini Farms Cheddar, Pt. Reyes Blue Cheese, Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam, and Cypress Grove “Bermuda Triangle”.

Our Banquet Room, located adjacent to our patio, is perfect for casual luncheons, corporate events, and other special gatherings. The room offers a screen for personal projectors and a TV with HDMI and PC connections; perfect for presentations and guest speakers. The room can accommodate 48 seated or 65 standing.

Our Presidents Room is great for mid-sized groups looking for a little privacy. Located near the bocce court, the room is great for birthdays, showers, and family gatherings. The room can accommodate up to 24 seated.

Our Conference Room, a glass enclosed room located in our dining room, is perfect for business lunches, employee meetings and family dinners. The room can accommodate up to 14 guests. No deposit is needed; however, the room does carry a food and beverage minimum of $120 for all reservations.
