Oakdale Rodeo In Oakdale California

The 2011, 60th annual, Oakdale Rodeo will happen in the second weekend in April 2011 in Oakdale, California. Oakdale is located in Northern California about 2 hours from Yosemite and 2 hours from the bay area. The Oakdale Rodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA).

The events include local team roping, barrel racing, and bull and bronc riding. Most people know what barrel racing is, but many may not have heard about team roping. It is when one cowboy (called the header), on his horse, ropes a steer, and his partner tries to lasso the legs (called the healer). The quickest to do so wins.

They also crown Miss Oakdale, have an Oakdale Rodeo Parade and have a dance. The dance will most likely be Saturday night for adults ages 21 and older. There will be live music so be sure to where your best boots.

Last year torrential winds and a downpour kept people away from the Oakdale Rodeo on Sunday. BeeinOakdale.com reported only 50 people were brave enough to stay until Sunday afternoon.
