49er Festival and Chili Cook-Off in Groveland California
Who doesn’t love a delicious bowl of chili? Here’s your chance to sample a great selection of chili at the Annual 49er Festival and Chili Cook off at Groveland. Gather up your friends and family to partake in this awesome event on Saturday September 18, 2010. The day begins with a pancake breakfast, followed by an antique airplane flying over you and then a parade down Main Street to Mark Laveroni Community Park featuring live music, vendors, kids activities, beer, wine, and of course chili! The featured band will be Livin in the U.S.A. & Joni Morrison this year at the 49er Festival and Chili Cook-off. There is also a live and silent auction.
The flyover happens at 8:45 leading into the parade that starts at 9 and finally the rest of the day’s activities begin at 10am.
To get to the Annual 49er Festival and Chili-cookoff, take highway 108 to 49 east and head south toward Chinese Camp. Amble on to the fork in the road and continue east on highway 120. You will pass through Big Oak Flats then downtown Groveland. The park will eventually appear to your right stretching its roots between the fire station and the museum/library. It’s a 30-minute drive and close to 30 miles from downtown Sonora. The Annual 49er Festival and Chili cook-off is about 3 hours from the Bay Area and 6-7 hours from the LA area.
